Due to its shock-resistant case with high-quality plastic cover and aluminum die-cast lower part, the mechanical surface-mounting double thermostat is very robust and can also be used in rough conditions. The device comprises a temperature controller als also a safety temperature limiter (STB). The temperature of the controller is set on a scale with the aid of a setpoint adjuster. The desired switch-off temperature of the safety temperature limiter can be set on a scale with the aid of a screwdriver after removing the case cover. The temperature controllers are characterized by a high switching point accuracy of +0/-1.5 % in the upper third of the scale and have a switching difference (hysteresis) of approx. 3 to 4 % of the scale range and switches off after reaching the switch-off point and automatically switches back to the original state after falling below the switch-off temperature by the value of the switching differential. If the pending temperature at the temperature probe of the safety temperature limiter exceeds the set limit value, the circuit is opened and the microswitch is mechanically locked. After the danger temperature has fallen below approx. 10% of the scale range, the microswitch of the safety temperature limiter can be unlocked manually. It is characterized by a high switching point accuracy of +0/-5 % in the upper third of the scale and, if the measuring system is destroyed, the circuit of the STB is permanently opened, unlocking is not possible in this case. The switching contact of the safety temperature limiter is then in a neutral position. When the sensor cools down to a temperature below approx. -20 °C, the circuit of the STB is also opened, only when the temperature rises above approx. -20 °C the STB can be manually unlocked again by the restart button. A decisive advantage is that no additional auxiliary power is required for temperature measurement. The electrical connection is made by screw terminals connected directly to the installed microswitches, which can directly switch a maximum permissible switching capacity of AC 230 V / 10 A. The measuring systems used operate according to the fluid expansion principle and can be used up to a maximum permissible probe temperature of 135°C without any problems. The smooth round sensor made of copper has a diameter of 6 mm with a probe length of approx. 125 mm for the temperature controller and 108 mm for the safety temperature limiter. The two capillaries of the thermostat are also made of copper and can be laid flexibly, taking into account a bending radius of 5 mm. The maximum permissible ambient temperature at the case (protection class IP54) is 80 °C. The thermostat can be used very flexibly and is used in heating, air conditioning and ventilation technology as well as in the plastics industry, apparatus and mechanical engineering as well as in furnace construction, in district heating transfer stations and for temperature monitoring in laboratories and climatic chambers. The device is approved according to DIN EN 14597 and DGRL and has also an EAC approval.
