Ignition cables

Ignition cables, also known as ignition leads or spark plug cables, connect the spark plugs to the ignition coil and are used primarily to transmit the voltage generated by the ignition coil to the spark plugs with as little loss as possible. They are also found on a CHP and various gas engines.

Ignition cables are exposed to very heavy loads due to their installation position in the engine. Therefore, ignition cables must be capable of outstanding technical performance nowadays. Among other things, they must have a high dielectric strength (in some cases up to 40,000 volts), high temperature resistance and great mechanical strength. In addition, ignition cables must be secured against energy loss and protected against vibration, water, acid, oil and gasoline.

Spark plugs are subject to wear and must therefore be checked and serviced regularly. Even visually intact elements can be defective or cause problems.
